The TAVA Project is an initiative to restore the original Ute name of Pikes Peak to the original sacred name of Tava, meaning “Sun Mountain.”

This effort honors the mountain’s cultural and spiritual significance to the Ute people and supports a more accurate, inclusive understanding of its history. Through education and community engagement, the TAVA Project works to reconnect this iconic landscape with its original name and meaning.
